Plans submitted for up to 141 canalside homes

    by Claire May 7, 2025
    written by Claire

A canalside development of up to 141 homes could be built on council-owned land in Stoke-on-Trent.

The city council has put forward the proposal for 91 houses and 50 apartments, which would be built on the vacant site on Pyenest Street in Shelton.

The development would also include new woodland, a children's play area and parking for up to 117 cars.

Under the plan, the remaining buildings on the site, including the former Harry Ramjams pub and a canalside warehouse, would be demolished.

Councillor Finlay Gordon-McCusker, cabinet member for regeneration, said the authority was "determined" to get the site redeveloped and "bring much-needed new homes" to the area.

"Critically, this is a brownfield site which has sat empty for far too long and I am determined we see progress," he said.

A decision on the outline planning application is expected to be made by July.
